In late spring/early summer, western gulls nest on Anacapa Island. It is a sight to see as there are birds literally everywhere. Here, adults sit amongst bright red flowers and grasses (as an aside, there are efforts underway to eradicate invasive plant species on the island). You cannot see them here, but eggs and baby birds are at the birds’ feet or close by.
