In the fall of 2023, my family took a cross-country trip from New Jersey to California and back. Along the way we stopped at National Parks, National Monuments and National Historical Parks. Stopping in Albuquerque, we visited the Petroglyph National Monument to see the petroglyph images carved by Ancestral Pueblo peoples. Hiking along a trail in the basalt rock hills, we viewed hundreds of images, including animals, people and crosses depicting the cultural heritage of the peoples. Some of the rock art have been dated back 3,000 years.
