I think 2024 will go down as the year the Aurora was visible to most of the eastern US. As I hiked up to my favorite overlook in the park, I had no idea the rare sight I was about to witness. The Aurora was so bright that night I could see it without my camera. I decided to see if I could shoot the Milky Way even though it would be competing with the moon's light. What I got was a rare SAR arc along with the Milky Way and moon showing over Skyland in Shenandoah NP. The night of 10 October will be one I won't soon forget!
