My family and I love to visit Great Sand Dunes in May and early June while Medano Creek is running strong. We spend many happy hours sledding down the dunes and splashing around in the water. During one of our visits in early June, we stayed out on the dunes until sunset and got to witness this dramatic view, as the sky turned pink over Mt. Herard.
