After seeing the craziness of the Virgin River Canyon in the famous Zion National Park, we were disheartened. We still wanted to visit the park, so we pulled out our map and noticed an area to the northwest of the main area that seemed very interesting. A bit of a drive lead to one of the most stunning hikes of my life, Taylor Creek Trail in the Kolob Canyons. The incredible Double Arch Alcove is the reward of reaching the end of the trail. Walking under these steep canyons is an awesome feeling and layers of sandstone unfold as you continue up the trail. This photo is standing under the icicle rimmed first arch, looking up to the second arch and the canyon peak beyond. We were so glad we decided to go to that area of the park, as we only saw two other groups on the trail and seemed to have the whole canyon to ourselves.
