Northern lights above Sand Point Lake in Voyageurs National Park. Hoping to see the lights of the north during a two-week trip to Michigan and Minnesota, I'd struck out every night for 9 nights. On the tenth night, I headed to the top deck of the houseboat we'd rented to explore Voyageurs National Park, and luckily a faint aurora appeared above the horizon.
