Taken at dusk as my Husband and I traveled along The Generals Highway from the north gate to Wuksachi Lodge. As we re-entered the the Parks boundary at the Monument sign we were hit with the remnants of the KNC Complex fire. Looking over the charred remains of the forest brought an overwhelming sense of sadness and loss for the earth and wildlife. A newfound respect for mother natures power. As well as a sense of renewal knowing fire is a natural process for the forests.
