We were sailing to Northwest Glacier and saw this phenomenal spectacle of about 15 humpbacks performing bubble-net feeding.
This is where a lead whale goes to the bottom of the ocean, starts blowing bubbles in a circular pattern and corral all fish like herring to be confined between the bubbles. That's when all 15 whales swoop up and just gulp as many fish as they can. The seagulls try to catch a few fish, before being whale-feed themselves. However the whales just spit the birds out!
Just an unbelievable intelligent behavior demonstrated by whales. They deploy advance communication, coordination and planning skills to ensure they have a successful feed.
Nature wins!
