This image of a single male elk (The Lone Ranger) was taken in the early hours at Oconaluftee Visitor Center. At first, no one had noticed him out in the field grazing. He had to have been out there for some time as the sun came up and the fog lifted. He was beautiful in the middle of that fall scenery. The most interesting part of this image is that I hadn't noticed him when I took pictures of the field, and it wasn't till I was reviewing my pictures at home that he was there.
