This is a shot taken on a pitch-black night on Kebler Pass near Crested Butte, CO. It is the galactic core of the Milky Way as it descended toward the horizon. The lights are from a car headed up the pass.
The photo was taken on a tripod, using a Canon EOS 6d Mark II with a 24 mm f/1.4 lens. I used 20 seconds at ISO 6400 to minimize post processing.
Some contrast adjustment and sharpening was done with photoshop to bring out the stellar clouds.
