The Colorado River from the bridge's viewpoint. On January 12, 1929, the Navajo Bridge was opened to traffic. The historic bridge served the area for 66 years, the time had come to replace the old bridge. On May 2, 1995, two years after construction of the new bridge began traffic was diverted onto the new Navajo Bridge.
