Rendezvous! The fort was built on Assiniboine territory at the tribe's request. They coexisted peacefully here, along with other Northern Plains Tribes: Crow, Blackfeet, Plains Cree, Plains Chippewa (Ojibwa), Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Sioux and Lakota. They exchanged buffalo robes and smaller furs for goods from around the world.
