New Mexico is my favorite state in the southwest, it has such an amazing landscape. We snagged a campsite at the Valley of Fires-an incredible spot with the best view over the Carrizozo lava flow. For sunset I climbed to the top of Overview hill for views of the valley. I looked down on our campsite and rig, the white camper on the left, and thought what a crazy landscape and took a photo just as the sun was about to dip below the horizon.
Crazy landscape indeed.. as that night was the windiest night of my life, winds up to 60 mph gusting up the hill and smacking our camper full force. I sat up all night listening to the wind whistle through our windows and shake the camper. I won't ever forget that place! and would still love to go back and spend more time.
