A dramatic scene unfolded as a female Alaskan Brown Bear fled with her twin cubs from an approaching male bear in Katmai National Park. Male bears will kill cubs in order to mate with the mother. She was grazing in the meadow with her two cubs and as soon as she saw the large male bear emerge from the woods, she took her cubs into the forest and climbed a cliff in order to get them to safety. After she helped the cubs climb over many large rocks, she protectively stopped to look back to make sure the male wasn't following them. Her two cubs were securely tucked beneath her. Luckily, they all made it to safety and the male bear never pursued them up the hill.
