After a thunderstorm disabled the elevators to Wind Cave and our adventure in the park was forced to remain above ground, we encountered a bustling prairie dog town whose residents were taking advantage of a break in the rain to also explore above ground. One prairie dog diligently stood guard as the rest of the colony searched for food and enjoyed the sunshine.
