This photo of the cog railway was taken on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. It was taken from the U S Post office building at the very top of the mountain. The exact site has been taken as a New Hampshire state park, and access is either by motor car or by a cog railway, the final approach to the top can be seen in this photo. While this exact site is claimed as state park, it, and the surrounding range of mountains is part of the White Mountain National Forest, and is maintained by the US Forest Service. To say the weather on top is extreme is an understatement. All the vegetation at this altitude is tundra vegetation, and it is extremely cold and windy. Enjoy the ride to the top, you won't enjoy it driving down.
