The Valley of Fires Recreation area in central New Mexico is quite an interesting place. I camped there for a couple nights and experienced sunset over the lava beds which was amazing! The setting sun made the lava almost look alive and moving, bathing it in a red/orange hue. We had just finished the Malpais Nature Trail and looking back I could see another couple walking the boardwalk in the sunset lighting. The zig zag curves of the trail really show the landscapes jagged edges and it fits perfectly in the photo. This trail is paved and has no steps which makes is accessible for everyone!
