In my opinion, the most beautiful and underrated national forest in the USA, is the Superior National Forest. This forest, unlike others in the nation, has free established campgrounds all over and most of them on a lake. What an amazing place to offer free camping in such an incredible location! We camped with a great view of Harriet Lake, we loved it so much we stayed the limit of 14 days. Every morning and night the lake put on a different outfit, the colors changed constantly as did the look of the water and sky. It was my favorite thing to wake up and see the sunrise over the lake. Or see how the setting sun changed the evening scenery. In this photo, a humid morning breaks over the lake creating fog off the water as a red sun rises. Distant wildfires from Alberta this past summer clouded the sky and made for some amazing photography for a few weeks.
