The huge cottonwood tree known as "The Mail Tree" is part of the Fruita Rural Historic District in Capital Reef National Park. It is estimated to be over 150 years old! In addition to providing shade and shelter, it became a location where mail carriers would transfer mail and later actual mailboxes were attached to the tree for the convenience of local settlers. Can you see the face in the tree?
