The peregrine falcon has to be one of my favorite birds and one I have struggled to get a clean photo of. It was a super windy day, and I didn't expect much, but there the falcon was, sunning itself in the trees and perfectly posed for a photoshoot! I'm really happy to have seen the world's fastest animal in a tree in its natural environment and not perched on a tall man made building.
Fun facts: peregrine falcons were almost totally wiped out in the late 60 and 70s due to the pesticide DDT. Today, they have rebounded nicely. These mighty little falcons can reach speeds up to 240 mph while diving to catch birds! Totally awesome!!
