Grand Canyon National Park

in the month of August monsoon storms can occasionally create showers and thunderstorms over the grand canyon, as moisture from the gulf interacts with the desert heat to create instability. This particular afternoon a series of storms drifted across the canyon occasionally dropping lightning near or even into the canyon. ALways keeping safety in mind, I was able to record several lightning strikes with from a safe location near the Desert View visitor center. This is a particularly dramatic strike. Every season has its own wonder at the grand canyon, even the rainy and stormy time of year some may be tempted to stay inside or leave the park.
