the full moon was setting and visible from the Manly overlook this particular morning. While it is often very difficult to take a photo that shows lunar detail as well as terrestrial detail, the times when the moon is near the horizon and it is either sunrise or sunset can provide such a window. The badlands in the sunrise glow and the celestial body give the photo and almost extraterrestrial feel. This March full moon is also somtimes known as the Death Moon which seemed to be an appropriate one to photograph in Death Valley.
