Back in April I took a trip to Southern Utah for some hiking and to hopefully photograph the Milky Way. I took some time for a couple days in between seeing Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks to stay in the town of Escalante; right on the outskirts of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. After hiking some slot canyons on day two I took note of the remote entrance to Hole in the Rock road. Because it was springtime the Milky Way wouldn't "rise" until 2 a.m., but that night conditions were ideal! So I set my alarm. By 3 a.m. I was in the car and driving back east out of town. In what seemed like total blackness (until my eyes adjusted) I was able to finally get my first glimpse and photo of the Milky Way.
