Indiana Dunes is a national park with a great diversity of ecosystems and plants. One of its more fascinating areas is Pinhook Bog which contains rare orchids, carnivorous pitcher plants, and tamarack trees (larches), a boreal species usually found further north. This photo captures the primeval feeling of the bog. This area is only accessible on a ranger led tour.
