The Blue Mesa Badlands at Petrified Forest has stunning views of layers of sedimentary rocks. At one time, the area where the park now sits, was covered with water. The flowing water formed these layers. The trail itself is fairly easy, however, you descend to the valley floor to reach the main trail. The hike back up is the hardest part, especially when the Arizona sun is shining brightly.
