After a party cloudy flat-light kind of day, we walked down to the banks of the White River to watch the sunset. Slowly the clouds faded and the wildfire smoke became a soft haze. The lower the sun got, the brighter the outlines on the backlit flanks became on Emmons Glacier on Mt Rainier. The magic hour was the magic 15 minutes of changing color and light- the atmospheric depth of field became more dramatic.
