Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge

A critically endangered red wolf hunting in a field on a foggy and humid morning. It's sibling wasn't too far off, patrolling the area for small rodents. The 5 yearlings from last years litter plus the breeding male are busy this time of year catching food for the new litter of pups recently born. The new pups are too young to leave the den site and rely on the pack to provide semi-digested food for them, as well as the mother wolf who is constantly tending to the newly arrived pups.

5 pups were born this spring, as well as the addition of a foster pup added to the den, bringing the total to 6 new puppies for this particular pack!
