Text only books filled with hard to pronounce words like Moenkopi Formation and Organ Rock Shale never really grabbed my attention. But after seeing literally millions of years worth of history in cross section as I drive through it was inspiring. Suddenly it had come to life and I wanted to know the names of these layers, how old they are, and what animals roamed the world when they were new. The White Rim Road is an incredible place, preserving the natural world to inspire curiosity to learn about and appreciate our world and its history.
