On our road-trip to see the beauty of the North Rim, my hope was to also spot the Kaibab Squirrel. One of the rarest mammals in the National Park system, and is native to no other part of the world. I was overjoyed with excitement when I spotted this one perched atop a fallen tree, happily munching on a pine cone.
