An evening I won't forget...I thought the light show was over so I walked back to camp in the waning light. A few minutes later, I noticed subtle blue streaks in the sky above me. I dropped my dinner and hurried back to the divide where I found the source. I've never noticed this phenomenon before, but I assume the steaks are the result of high peaks blocking the last rays of light on the upper atmosphere. I've seen even more dramatic shots of Mount Rainier casting a dark shadow on the sky.
