I am a marine biologist. Every year my colleagues and I take part in a survey of the underwater vegetation at the bottom of the Florida Bay, which is the body of water between the Everglades and the Florida Keys. The Florida Bay is part of Everglades National Park, yet is a road less traveled given the vast openness of the water body. I find the Florida Bay to be incredibly beautiful because of its vast seagrass meadows that harbor a unique diversity of tropical marine species. This photo showcases the lush grasses at the bottom of the Bay, manateegrass and turtlegrass.
