The Kaibab Squirrel is found on the Kaibab plateau, on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and is native to no other part of the world. So when I stopped by the Visitor Center in Jacob Lake to inquire about where I might see a rare Kaibab Squirrel, they initially laughed at me and said that they were difficult to find and even harder to photograph as they are very fast. I started to feel like my detour to the area was a bust. However, after a little more conversation, it was shared with me a location where there had been some sightings. So off I go to see if I can find and photograph this rare Squirrel. Imagine my surprise as I arrive in the area and one literally darts across the dirt road in front of my vehicle!! ...and it joined TWO of its friends! What an incredible experience to see, observe and photograph them!
