One of the highlights of my trip to San Juan was getting a glimpse at this legendary artwork. The story goes that a captain in the 1530s ran a mutiny to get his men paid and was imprisoned in the dungeon below the castle. While there, he drew the fleet of ships he had sailed across the Atlantic on - the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria!
The Captains tale did not end well and I don't believe his men ended up getting their salary, which was unfortunate. I'm grateful, however, that the parks have been able to preserve the art and the legend, and that I had the chance to see it and share it!
