Google Earth sent me down an interesting path to get this shot. I wanted to get the Milky Way above the snowy Mt. Shasta. The Whaleback, a mountain just north of Shasta, lined up nearly perfectly with Mt. Shasta, providing an incredible perspective. The clearing where I shot this was also home to a hang gliding launch platform.
