Shafer Canyon Road in Canyonlands National Park is both beautiful and a bit harrowing. Switchbacks lead from the breathtaking views at the top all the way down to the bottom, where the adventurous can follow the river, keeping an eye out for wildlife like the desert bighorn sheep.
