I set my alarm for about 3am waiting for the moon to set to get a Milky Way image from the boat dock in Apgar Village within Glacier National Park. While I was waiting I began to see white lights like spotlights on the horizon. I soon realized it was the Northern Lights! To my eyes it appeared as black and white but my camera recorded these colors. I had my camera already set up to shoot the night sky so I just needed to make a few fast adjustments for exposure and time. This display only lasted about 20 minutes so I feel very fortunate to have been at the right place at the right time!
