This is a truly magical place. Hidden deep in the Smokey mountains is a population of one of the most magnificent insects - synchronous fireflies! It's a once in a lifetime experience to stand amongst them. It's like standing in deep space in the dark and then having millions of stars light up all around you.
Over and over again, they light up the forest for 6 seconds and then go dark for another 6 seconds. They repeat this every night for just 2-3 weeks in the spring.
