I'll never forget my first encounter with a critically endangered red wolf (super relieved i didn't blow the shot from excitement). It was an early, freezing cold February morning of this year and I had been looking for this elusive animal literally for 2 years. I had always either just missed one or had heard howling but never had saw one. I was just about to head out and turned the corner and there she was! Not only is this red wolf one of the oldest in the area, she is now a proud grandmother of 6 young red wolves born in the wild for the first time since 2018! So in honor of the first day of wolf awareness week, here is a true legacy!
(Photo taken with a long lens, canon 100-400 with a 1.4 extender and from a car, never chase or stalk wildlife, respect it from a distance even if it means you don't the best shot).
