MARIPOSA GROVE OF GIANT SEQUOIAS

I was showing an Australian visitor of our beautiful national parks. First stop was at Yosemite. We hiked the mariposa Grove loop to see the giant Sequoias. My visitor was awestruck by the magnificence of the Sequoias especially the Grizzly Giant. On our hike back to the entrance, we chanced upon swaths of burnt areas caused by a recent forest fire that threatened the century old Sequoias. I was heart broken by the site of forest destruction. I wanted to capture the fire ravage area cause by both human and climatic changes. Everyone of us need to be cognizant of how to care for our national parks and the environment as a whole. We need to maintain these God given natural wonders for future generations. This photo was taken with a Pentax K5 with a Pentax 18-135 mm set at 24 mm at f4, 1/250 sec, ISO 400.
