This photo was taken at the start of the Castle Trail at Badlands National Park in South Dakota in June 2022. I was looking at the trail map at the trailhead. I noticed a bird flying to the right side of me several times. I looked over to the right of the trailhead, and noticed that this bird had set up a nest on the trailhead sign. In the nest, were her three little chicks. I thought this was the cutest thing ever. I backed away a little bit so momma bird could get to her chicks, and snapped this candid shot of the birds waiting for their momma to come back with their food.
