After a 3 mile hike through the forest along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the woods opened up to this amazing beach and endless view of Lake Superior. This was my first time seeing the Great Lakes and I was amazed at just how huge Lake Superior was. Coming from the Northeast, I'm used to seeing lakes, but you can usually see across it from one side to the other. Coming out to this beach was incredible - it seemed like the lake was an even more beautiful version of the ocean. It stretched farther than I could see on any side and the crystal clear water was colored in all different shades of blue. It reminded me of being somewhere in the Caribbean. We also came to an area with a really interesting flow of water coming in from both sides. We had the lake coming in and a small stream flowing out towards the lake, creating a sandbar in between.
