After reading "One Man's Wilderness", I was fascinated and determined to visit Dick Proenneke's Cabin on Twin Lakes in Lake Clark National Park. We stayed at The Farm Lodge in Port Alsworth as our base and took a full-day floatplane trip Twin Lakes where we disembarked and toured the cabin and surrounding land. It was deeply moving, to imagine how this man not only built this cabin, but lived there for many years.
