For nearly a decade, I was fortunate to live only 10 minutes away from Canyon de Chelly. I would often go to the Canyon to find inspiration and that only amplified during the pandemic. During most of the pandemic, access points into this Canyon were closed, and only a couple of overlooks along the main road remained open. I found myself returning to this particular spot morning after morning. I captured this sunrise March 24, 2020 on my way to the local grocery store for essential supplies. As temperatures were warming up, snow was melting, and a recent rainstorm had passed through, so the usually dry wash at the bottom of the Canyon was filled with water, which perfectly reflected the colorful sky. This scene was deeply moving.
