Grand Island is located in Lake Superior just offshore from Munising, Michigan. In the winter, the lake occasionally freezes enough to allow cross country skiing or snowmobiling to the island. Seeping water forms massive icicles and ice curtains along the sandstone cliffs that can reach 30 feet tall. Behind the ice, the "caves" are a great place to explore.
