On the Rocky Point trail near the Fish Creek campground in Glacier. The crisp air is spiced with the sharp, clean scents of spruce and pine, and the late afternoon sun diffuses through their branches into soft green and gold medallions of light. We found this little diorama in an area burned by the Robert Fire in 2003, which is already covered thickly with new growth and tall saplings. These two young trees had fallen to form a perfect "x" behind their older, sturdier cousin, and rested there as we hiked by.
