This is the Connecting Channel at Tioga-Hammond Lakes Recreation Area in Tioga, Pennsylvania. It is a monument to the ingenuity of the engineers in the area who set this up 50 years ago. Lake Tioga receives some its water from acid drains from old mines. This channel keeps the polluted water out of Lake Hammond and, at the same time, it mixes Lake Hammond's clean water into Lake Tioga which provides for better aquatic life in both reservoirs.
