My husband and I waited 4 years to visit Katmai. After being selected from the lottery to stay at Brooks Lodge, we had to delay our trip for 2 years due to Covid. Rather than give up our coveted spot, we waited another 2 years. It was SO worth the wait. We enjoyed watching and photographing the bears at both platforms and loved that fact that we didn't have to fight the crowds during July.
In this particular photo, this big guy was chasing a fish below Brooks Falls. It was exhilarating to witness the power, speed and focus of this large bear. He was a very successful at fishing as his size would prove.
