My husband and I waited 4 years to visit Katmai. After being selected from the lottery to stay at Brooks Lodge, we had to delay our trip for 2 years due to Covid. Rather than give up our coveted spot, we waited another 2 years. It was SO worth the wait. We enjoyed watching and photographing the bears at both platforms and loved that fact that we didn't have to fight the crowds during July.
In this particular photo, I was able to capture the "quads". We saw momma and her 4 cubs on our final day in the park on Sept. 11, 2022. We learned that one of these cubs was killed a few days later; sad, but also a normal occurrence in the lives of wild bears. I just felt blessed to have seen all 4 together.
