On an early fall day before any leaf color change had started my brother and his wife accompanied me and my partner on a hike to Black Rock Summit in the south part of the park. The trail leads to a scree field with amazing vistas of the surrounding mountains. There was even a 20 foot American chestnut tree (having resprouted from old roots) up there with multiple burs containing chestnuts. There are always amazing things to see in our national parks!
