I traveled to RMNP with my wife, sister (her first trip) and my dad. We were on the east side of the park for the day making our way back to Grand Lake on Trail Ridge Road when this cow elk popped up just before the Alpine visitor center. The elk surprised us because we had no idea they travel up to that altitude. She posed on the edge of the drop-off with the mountains working as a perfect backdrop. We were in the right place at the right time and glad to share this memorable moment
